Fundamentals to Metalwork:
Learn about MIG and MMA Welding alongside the fundamentals of fabrication by learning how to build building your own metal project from start to finish.
This one-day, hands-on workshop introduces you to MIG and MMA welding, alongside the essential fabrication skills needed to cut, prepare, assemble and finish metal.
What to expect
This practical one-day course gives you hands-on experience with MIG and MMA welding, helping you understand the differences and which process might suit you and your projects.
You'll also explore the wider fabrication process, learning how metal is prepared, cut, assembled, welded and finished to create 3D projects.
What you’ll learn?
During the day, you'll learn the fundamentals of MIG and MMA welding, including machine setup and the basic techniques required to start producing welds and joints in mild steel.
You'll also learn how to prepare material for welding using an angle grinder, use workshop machinery and hand tools to cut metal, and understand the importance of accurate measuring and preparation.
We'll then introduce you to the skills required to fabricate 3D objects from metal, including how technical drawings are used to plan and assemble a project.
You'll bring all of these skills together to construct your own metal plant stand, choosing either MIG or MMA welding to assemble your finished project.
By the end of the day, you'll have experienced the main stages involved in fabrication — from preparing and cutting material through to assembly, welding and finishing.
